Course Description: This course provides students with a strong understanding of the everyday finances which will enable them to make financial decisions in their lives. The course will cover topics such as (but not limited to): Consumers, Choosing a Career, Taxes, Budgeting and Banking Services, Saving and Investing, Transportation and Automobile Insurance, Housing and Home Insurance, and Health and Life Insurance. During this course we will make use of a variety of instructional methods such as independent study, role playing, class and small group activities, and case studies. Community resource people such as accountants, banking center managers, financial planners and advisors, and career advisors may be involved as guests in class. The course will provide information and competency building activities designed to provide students with the ability to analyze, evaluate, and learn logical thinking and problem solving skills that will enable them to make good decisions in their daily lives.
